Ben and I used to do a lot of cross country skiing, but find that we do more kick sledding these days because two of us can go out on one kicksled- one can ski with the kicksled and one can ride. If we both take kicksleds out, we can use the seat to take a break along   the way.

Bike trails that are groomed for cross country skiing are an excellent place to use kicksleds for recreation. Users of a kicksled get the same good exercise that on can get from cross country skiing (it's a kick and glide motion that is easy on the knees and joints, but more stable because you have the handle bar on the sled to hang on to).  A person can get a good workout if they choose to do so, or they can take a leisurely glide through the snow.

In addition to leisure activities, kicksleds can be used for practical purposes. The seat can be used to carry a child, bring groceries back from the store, for going out to the mailbox, to get wood from the wood pile, to get supplies out on the lake for ice fishing or to get to a winter cabin.

People of any age can use a kicksled. Grandparents have purchased them for their grandchildren to use when they come to visit, but then need to another one because they are having too much fun themselves. They are also good for people with disabilities to use, they are a very stable way for anyone to get exercise while being able to glide through the snow.
